چکیده

Anti-Blackness is global and present in every facet of society, including education. In this article, we examine the challenges Black girls encounter schools throughout United States. Guided by select research centered on women their roles as mothers, activists school leaders, assert that sociologist Patricia Hill Collins’ concept Motherwork should be an essential component reframing praxis leadership helping leaders to rethink policies, practices, ideologies are anti-Black antithetical Blackness girlhood. While most aimed improve schooling experiences children focuses teacher leader (mis)perceptions systemic racial biases, few studies build care efficacy personified leaders. We argue educational advocacy behalf vital culturally responsive combats anti-Blackness honors conclude with implications for those concerned children, namely girls.

The Blackness of Black

In what remains one of the central accomplishments of cognitive anthropology, Berlin and Kay (1969) demonstrated that the diversity of human color systems was built on a universal infrastructure, with black and white being the most basic colors in all systems. The analytical focus of their work is a structural system divorced from the messy tasks of actually using color terms to make relevant d...

Challenging Anti-fragile Blockchain Applications

Failures in production are a de facto rule for distributed software systems. In particular, modern distributed systems are composed of heterogeneous building blocks contributed by third parties and guaranteeing the end-to-end resilience is becoming a major challenge. Even though each of these software components can embed fault tolerance or dependability protocols, it remains difficult to asses...

Structurally assisted blackness in butterfly scales.

Surfaces of low reflectance are ubiquitous in animate systems. They form essential components of the visual appearance of most living species and can explicitly influence other biological functions such as thermoregulation. The blackness associated with all opaque surfaces of low reflectivity has until now been attributed to strongly absorbing pigmentation alone. Our present study challenges th...

Additivity of spatially induced blackness.

Tests of additivity of the postreceptoral pathways that mediate the perception of blackness were conducted under conditions of spatial contrast. Observers increased the radiance of a surrounding annulus until a broadband (white) test center appeared completely black. Additivity tests with heterochromatic flicker photometry (HFP) and direct brightness matching were also conducted for each observ...

Spectral efficiency of blackness induction.

The spectral efficiency of blackness induction was measured in three normal trichromatic observers and in one deuteranomalous observer. The psychophysical task was to adjust the radiance of a monochromatic 60-120' annulus until a 45' central broadband field just turned black and its contour became indiscriminable from a dark surrounding gap that separated it from the annulus. The reciprocal of ...
